2006 Breeding Pairs

First Pairing
Lil' Reggie X Blue Star

11/18/05

I paired up these two in the middle of November and they never appeared to be into the breeding thing. This is the second pairing for Blue Star. This pairing was not mentioned much as I was not sure if the male would produce. I bought the male as an unproven adult. The male had been bred several times without any results. These two were together for close to a month and a half. Copulation was never seen with this pairing.

01/25/06

Blue Star refused food for the first time. Her behavior has changed and she is not looking for food either.

02/15/2006

Ovulation was observed and I am very hopeful to get lots of viable eggs from this pairing. Blue Star's previous clutch showed no signs of follicle development or ovulation. This has changed dramatically as this ovulation is very pronounced.

03/25/2006

Blue Star laid 13 viable eggs during the day of the 25th of March. One egg has some questionable coloration but otherwise appears perfect in every way. This clutch is one that I have looked forward to from the moment I bought Lil' Reggie. Eggs should hatch near May 13th. Check back for any updates.

Blue Star was bred by Central Coast Reptiles and was born in 2001. I do have my doubts about the validity of her being captive born. I believe she was farm hatched. She is a magnificent Sorong "type" green tree python and has one of the most stunning blue stripes I have seen. She was purchased by me in the summer of 2003. She produced her first clutch on 11/6/04 of 16 healthy, fertile eggs.

05/13/2006

The eggs started to hatch out very early on Saturday morning. I manually pipped the rest of the eggs after the first one pipped. I lost 3 eggs early in the incubation period. One egg was the one that had the questionable coloration. The remaining 10 eggs all hatched and the babies are looking great!

Second Pairing

Aru Female X Sorong Male

10/01/2006

This pairing was done by Steve Roebuck. I sold this female to him last year and he paired her up with a Sorong Type Male. The female is an Aru Type from Rob Worrell. She has some nice blue highlights and has some interesting markings on her neck. These two started breeding last year and were very active for several months. The male was a very strong breeder.

01/04/2007

The female was seen ovulating over a couple days. The swelling was quite pronounced and is a text book ovulation. The female has taken on the hormonal blue coloration and has a high chance of keeping that coloration after one or two more breedings.

03/02/2007

The female laid 17 fertile eggs and was not happy to have her picture taken. Steve removed the eggs and set them up in the incubator to start the long nail biting process of artificial incubation.

04/19/2007

Babies started to hatch this morning. All seem to be very healthy and are quite large.

I will be listing babies on this website as soon as they are available from Steve. They will be listed on the available section as soon as they have eaten enough to go to new homes. All babies will be shipped from Steve in Florida. If you have any questions regarding this pairing, please email Steve at hplus@comcast.net or you can email me and I try and answer your questions.
