2004 Pairings

First Pairing

7/14/04

As of now, I have one pair breeding. This pairing consists of a Sorong "Type" female named Blue Star. The male is a designer type named Crumb. The female was captive born from Central Coast Reptiles and the male was captive born from Buddy Goetzger of Arboreal Adventures.

Copulations were recorded on 7/15 and have been observed off and on.

8/14/04

The female refused food for the first time and no other copulations have been observed. The male will be staying with her for a few more weeks to see if anything develops.

11/02/04

Currently the female is off feed and spending day and night in the nest box. Although follicle development and ovulation were not seen, I am still fairly confident she is gravid. There has been a significant change in her temperament and behavior which leads me to believe she is in fact gravid. If she is indeed gravid, I will be expecting eggs no later than 11/08/04. Her pre-lay shed was on 10/18/04.

11/05/04

I woke up to a bunch of pearly white eggs! They looked great and hope to see them hatching on day 49, which ironically falls on Christmas day.

12/24/05

The first egg hatched and a small yellow hatchling emerged. I manually pipped the remaining eggs and all but one hatched by the 26th. I am currently in the feeding trials with the babies, and as of today, 1/17/05, 6 of the 11 babies have eaten.
